Barry Maciak, Managing Partner
Mr. Maciak is the Managing Partner of World-Class Industrial Network, LLC.
After working as a welder and machinist in one of Pittsburgh's industrial job shops for six years in the early 1970's, he began his professional career as a community organizer for the regions federal anti-poverty organization Community Action Pittsburgh in 1976. He then joined the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh where he was at the forefront of the developing community and economic development initiatives.
In 1986, Barry was appointed by Cardinal Bevilacqua to develop programs for the growing numbers of unemployed industrial workers in Southwestern Pennsylvania. In 1988, he joined the newly forming Southwestern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Centers (SPIRC) program. During his tenure as managing director, SPIRC gained national and international recognition as a leading industrial modernization program.
In 1993, Barry left his position with SPIRC to develop World-Class Industrial Network, LLC. (WIN). He has conducted workshops and presented at seminars throughout the U.S., Northern Ireland and Japan on topics that include manufacturing modernization, management training and industrial networking.
Concurrent with his management responsibilities at WIN, Barry also holds the positions of: Executive Director of the Institute for Economic Transformation at Duquesne University, and is President of New Century Careers, a non-profit organization providing a skilled workforce for the manufacturing industry in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Silvio Baretta, Senior Partner
Silvio Baretta, Ph.D. joined WIN in 1998 as a Senior Partner. In this capacity, his responsibilities involve supervising staff involved in projects, developing new business, quality control and strategic planning. In conjunction with WIN's managing partner, Dr. Baretta is involved in setting the company's direction, identifying market niches, and constantly monitoring organizational performance.
In his jobs prior to joining WIN, Dr. Baretta was in charge of business development for a regional economic and community development organization. He has also acted as a private consultant to governments, foundations and non-profit entities. In these assignments, he was primarily involved with assisting clients with the creation and implementation of strategic planning, and with project development and management.
Tim Marcovecchio, Partner
Tim began with World-Class Industrial Network (WIN) in 1994; a year after its founding in 1993. He started in a support role as a consultant providing administrative, research, facilitation, information technology and project development assistance. As the original "employee" of WIN he has played an integral role in guiding its growth and development over the years.
Tim has been responsible for the development, management and completion of more than $1 Million in projects related to economic development and environmental industrial performance improvement in the State of Pennsylvania. Tim has also been responsible for technology strategy and deployment at WIN. His chief responsibilities in this regard include day-to-day oversight of operational technology issues, strategic planning and purchasing of technology and management of two additional technical staff; as well as serving as the chief technical advisory resource for Client-related needs.
In 2004, Tim assumed a new role as a Partner at World-Class Industrial Network, LLC. In addition to his consulting responsibilities, he is now a part of the team determining the long-term strategic and operational directions of the organization.
Tom Scuoteguazza, Partner
Tom Scuoteguazza joined the WIN team in June of 2002 with primary responsibilities in the areas of program development, client engagement management and business growth. Tom has an extensive background in program and project management and currently supports a wide range of projects targeted at economic development, youth based workforce development and the implementation of organizational process improvement strategies.
Prior to joining WIN, Tom led a consulting team that specialized in providing business process improvement and information technology systems analysis, design and deployment for the telecommunications industry. His clients ranged from regional wireless service providers to multi-national high bandwidth carriers.
